Departure Bay terminal is located in Nanaimo on the east coast of Vancouver Island. The terminal is a 5 minute drive north of Nanaimo city centre. Horseshoe Bay terminal is located in West Vancouver, at the west end of the Trans-Canada Highway. The terminal is a 25 minute drive from downtown Vancouver. Sailings departing from Horseshoe Bay provide service to Langdale (Sunshine Coast) and Snug Cove (Bowen Island).

The Old Country Market started as a roadside fruit stand providing fresh produce to travellers heading to the west coast of Vancouver Island. Over the years it has evolved into a landmark of Coombs, with a mixture of shops and eateries for locals and visitors alike. Oh yeah, and there are goats… on the roof!

Fresh water adventure seekers will not want to miss a visit to Sproat Lake Provincial Park in the Alberni Valley on central Vancouver Island. Located 15 minutes west of Port Alberni, Sproat Lake is a favoured location for swimming, fishing, waterskiing and, when the wind is up, windsurfing.

Cathedral Grove, located in MacMillan Park, is one of the most accessible stands of giant Douglas fir trees on Vancouver Island. The park protects and preserves an internationally significant representative example of Douglas fir old-growth forest within the Coastal Western Hemlock Biogeoclimatic Zone.

The main feature of this small park, adjacent to the bank of the Kennedy River on the west coast of Vancouver Island, is the abundance of birdlife, which offers great viewing opportunities for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts. As there are no developed trails in the park, the best way to see these birds is by canoe or kayak, via a peaceful paddle down the river from Kennedy Lake.

Cameron Lake is a lake in central Vancouver Island located 15 km east of Port Alberni, on the north side of Highway 4. It has an area of 477 hectares and an elevation of 184 metres above sea level. The lake is between Mount Arrowsmith to the south and Mount Wesley to the north

MacMillan Provincial Park is a 301-hectare provincial park in British Columbia, Canada. Located 25 km west of Qualicum Beach and 16 km east of Port Alberni, the park straddles Highway 4 and the Island Rail Corridor in central Vancouver Island.

The Alberni Harbour Quay features a colourful collection of waterfront shops, galleries, and eateries, and is also where you'll find the clock tower, which grants panoramic views of the Alberni Inlet. The Spirit Square Farmer's Market (link is external)on Saturday mornings is always busy. You will also find the boarding area for the MV Frances Barkley, a passenger and freight vessel that offers scenic journeys to Bamfield and Ucluelet on the west coast. Take a stroll to view the commercial fishing fleet, large shipping vessels and pleasure craft marinas. There's also a children's park for families to spend the afternoons.

The main purpose of Taylor Arm Provincial Park is to provide group camping facilities close to the shores of Sproat Lake. The six group campsites at this park are located across the highway from the lake, connected via a trail that leads through a highway underpass.

Amphitrite Point Lighthouse is an active lighthouse near Uclulelet on the west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, named after Amphitrite, the sea goddess and wife of Poseidon in Greek mythology. It is also known for one of the sample pictures in Windows 7

Long Beach in Ucluelet is the largest and longest beach in the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. It is located on Wickaninnish Bay between Tofino and Ucluelet and is adjoined by campgrounds and picnic areas.

One night on 10 February 1945, a Canso bomber plane was flying out with a crew of 12 onboard. An engine malfunctioned and it crashed into the trees. The quick thinking of the pilot saved the lives of all onboard and the entire crew was reduced 11 hours later.

Cox Bay Beach is just south of Chesterman (with Rosie Bay in-between) and is a great beach for surfing, although it can be a bit tough getting out to the green at times for beginners. Fun beach to walk end to end with tide pools at the south end and Sunset Point Walk at the north.

Tofino is a small district on Vancouver Island, off Canada's west coast. It sprawls on a peninsula within Clayoquot Sound, characterised by wild natural scenery including lakes, inlets and ancient rainforest. Sandy beaches with year-round surfing facilities include Cox Bay, Chesterman Beach and popular Long Beach, part of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
