What to Expect
Stop at: Cabot Trail
The Cabot Trail is the "Crown Jewel" of Cape Breton Island. The 300 kilometre (186 mile) driving route offers spectacular coastal views, unspoiled natural beauty, encounters with wildlife, and warm hospitality in the Celtic and Acadian villages that dot the coastline. Although time constraints don't allow for the entire route to be travelled on a cruise excursion, we offer a "mini" tour that shows some of the best highlights with many look-off stops along the way.
What's Included
- Guided scenic tour to Ingonish or Cheticamp
- Air-conditioned vehicle
- Top-rated scenic look-off points and "off the beaten path" locations
- Photo opportunities at St. Ann's Bay and Kelly's Mountain and many more
- Gratuities
- Lunch
Meeting And Pickup
Pickup Point
Your tour will begin about 15 minutes after your ship docks. This allows time for you to disembark and meet your guide. For example, if your ship arrives at 8:00 am, the tour starts at 8:15 am (or sooner if everyone is ready). If your ship arrives at 9:00 am, the tour begins at 9:15 am, and so on. Because ship arrival times can vary, we do not print exact tour times on tickets. If a ticket shows a specific time, please ignore it—your guide will always be waiting when you arrive. We ask that you disembark as soon as possible so the group is not delayed. If all guests are not present within 30 minutes of docking, the tour will begin without them. Your guide will be wearing a blue shirt or jacket and parked close to your ship, usually between the ship and the large buses. If you are unsure, ask someone to point you toward Cabot Discovery Tours—people are generally happy to direct you. There are two docks at the Port of Sydney. We will pick you up at whichever dock your ship uses. If you arrive at Liberty Pier, someone may try to direct you to the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion at the Main Dock. Please do not take the shuttle—your guide will be waiting for you at Liberty Pier. This is an all-weather tour. We run rain or shine and cannot guarantee clear skies or views, though we do adjust plans when possible. The only reason a tour would be canceled is if your ship is unable to dock. If your ship docks, the tour will go ahead as scheduled.
