What to Expect
Stop at: Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site
Step back in time to the early 1700s as you explore the fascinating, battle-sieged Fortress and Port built by the French. Choose a self-guided tour at your own pace, or enhance your experience with one of the excellent guided tours offered by Parks Canada.
Stop at: Louisbourg Lighthouse
Take in the breathtaking views and admire the third lighthouse to stand on this historic site. You can still see the ruins of the previous two — including Canada's very first lighthouse.
Pass by: Mira River Provincial Park
Enjoy peaceful views along the beautiful Mira River, known for its calm waters, lush surroundings, and relaxing coastal charm.
Stop at: Membertou Heritage Park
Discover Mi’kmaq culture at Membertou Heritage Park, where stories, traditions, and history come to life.
Pass by: Charlotte Street
Drive along Charlotte Street, the lively heart of downtown Sydney, where you’ll see a mix of local shops, cozy cafés, restaurants, and historic buildings that reflect the city’s charm and daily life.
Pass by: Port of Sydney, N.S.
Your tour concludes at the Port of Sydney, where your guide will drop you off at the same location. From here, you can enjoy a relaxing walk along the scenic waterfront boardwalk, take in beautiful harbor views, explore nearby local shops, and capture memorable photos with the iconic Big Fiddle—the largest fiddle in the world, celebrating Cape Breton’s rich musical heritage.
